NEWS +VOX: Sobinco expands Belgian campus to boost production and global growth

Sobinco, the family-owned specialist in aluminium window and door hardware, has marked a major step forward with the expansion of its headquarters in Zulte, Belgium. The new Sobinco Campus nearly doubles the company’s production and administrative area—from 29,000 to 51,000 square metres—signalling both operational growth and long-term confidence in its market position across Europe and Asia.

For more than six decades, the Van Parys family has steered Sobinco through steady growth, maintaining financial independence and a deep commitment to technological precision. With more than 550 employees across its Zulte headquarters and sister company STA in Maia, Portugal, Sobinco has built a vertically integrated production structure that encompasses every stage of manufacturing—from zinc die-casting and plastic injection moulding to assembly and logistics. This approach ensures consistent quality and quick delivery, while offering flexibility for customers seeking private-label solutions.

The new campus consolidates production, research, administration, and customer service under one roof, creating what the company calls a “knowledge centre” for craftsmanship, technology, and design. The layout is designed to promote collaboration and efficiency while providing visitors and partners a direct view into Sobinco’s manufacturing processes.

One of the latest examples of Sobinco’s engineering focus is the Cosmo window hardware line. By reducing the number of components by half compared to conventional systems, Cosmo simplifies logistics and installation, lowers error rates, and enhances overall reliability—while still covering a full range of window functions, including certified security versions.

Sustainability is also integral to the renewed site. The campus is powered by more than 3,400 photovoltaic panels generating 1,500 kWp of electricity, complemented by energy-efficient lighting, heat pumps, and a rainwater management system. Together, these measures have reduced overall energy consumption by more than 26%.

With its strong financial footing, expanded capacity, and ongoing investment in sustainable production, Sobinco reinforces its reputation as a trusted partner to system suppliers and manufacturers. The Zulte campus embodies the company’s long-term vision: combining technical excellence with responsible growth for the global construction industry.

Why This Matters: Sobinco’s expansion signals renewed investment and confidence in Europe’s fenestration sector. By nearly doubling its production capacity and deepening vertical integration, the company strengthens supply reliability for aluminium window and door manufacturers. Its streamlined Cosmo hardware system and sustainability measures also set higher benchmarks for efficiency, design simplicity, and environmentally responsible production.
