NEWS: Window giant Profine expands aluminium business with Bulgarian acquisition

Profine GmbH, a global leader in window and door systems, has announced the acquisition of Profilink, a Bulgarian company specialising in PVC and aluminium systems. The deal, finalised in August 2025, sees Profine taking over all of Profilink’s aluminium and PVC operations, including system brands, as well as staff from its marketing, sales, and engineering departments.

The move is part of Profine’s broader strategy to significantly expand its aluminium product offerings across Europe. Profilink’s existing portfolio, particularly its market presence and customer relationships in Southeastern Europe, will now be integrated into the Profine network and continued under its internationally recognised Kömmerling brand. This will bolster Profine’s in-house developments and the expertise it gained from its previous acquisition of EFP Facades in October 2024.

Dr. Peter A. Mrosik, owner and CEO of Profine GmbH, stated the acquisition “is a further strong signal of our commitment to expand our aluminium business across Europe”. He added that the deal would broaden the company’s product range and strengthen its development expertise in both aluminium and PVC, enabling it to offer a “more comprehensive and powerful systems portfolio from a single source” to its customers.

The acquisition is considered a “milestone” in Profine’s growth strategy for the European aluminium market. The company aims to accelerate the development of its aluminium segment while further strengthening Kömmerling as a leading brand for high-quality window and door systems. Profine, which operates in over 100 countries with 29 sites in 22 countries, is one of the world’s largest extruders of PVC-U, aluminium, and hybrid window and door systems.

Why This Matters: This is a significant strategic move by a company traditionally engrained in the PVC-U sector. The fenestration sector is rapidly reshaping itself and the growth of aluminium as a framing material is a characteristic of this change. Forward thinking PVC-U extruders are looking at involvement in different materials and aluminium is top of the list.
