NorDan UK has acquired RED Systems, in a move the company said would broaden its offer in the UK from high-performance windows and doors to a more integrated building envelope service.
The acquisition brings together NorDan’s work in timber and aluminium-clad windows and doors with RED Systems’ expertise in architectural glazing, curtain walling and façade systems. NorDan said the deal formed part of its UK growth strategy and would strengthen its design, compliance and project delivery capabilities.
The announcement comes as construction firms face mounting pressure to meet tougher regulatory requirements and growing expectations around compliance, accountability and performance. Against that backdrop, NorDan said there was increasing demand for more coordinated façade and building envelope solutions.
By combining the two businesses’ capabilities, the company said it would be able to support projects earlier in the design process, improve coordination between systems and reduce risk at key interface points during delivery.
Craig Greenwood, managing director of NorDan UK, said the deal was about bringing together “two businesses that already share a strong focus on quality, collaboration and delivery”.
He said: “For our customers, it means a stronger, more capable delivery proposition. We’re strengthening our ability to support projects earlier, work more closely with partners and ultimately deliver better, more coordinated outcomes on site.”
RED Systems has built a national reputation in aluminium architectural glazing and SFS commercial projects, offering design, supply and installation services. Over its 22-year history, the company has completed more than 500 projects across the UK in the residential, commercial, education and leisure sectors.
NorDan said RED Systems was particularly known for its early involvement in projects, including detailed design coordination and technical delivery work linked to multiple Building Safety Act gateway submissions.
Michael Green, managing director of RED Systems, said the company had been looking for a partner that shared its approach to quality and long-term client relationships.
“We’re proud of the business we’ve built at RED Systems, particularly our reputation for delivering high-quality, design-led façade solutions,” he said. “In NorDan, we’ve found a partner that shares our values, our approach to quality and our long-term commitment to clients.”
The deal has been announced in NorDan’s centenary year, which the group said underlined its continuing effort to expand its capabilities in response to growing complexity across the construction sector.
Johannes Rasmussen, chief marketing officer of NorDan Group and a member of the founding family, said the partnership was underpinned by a strong alignment between the two businesses in how projects are approached and delivered.
Dag Kroslid, chief executive of NorDan Group, said the investment marked an important step for the business in the UK. He said it brought together complementary expertise and strengthened the group’s ability to support customers across the building envelope, while keeping quality and long-term performance at the centre of its growth strategy.
Why This Matters: The appetite for acquisitions in the UK fenestration sector shows no sign of easing. A clear pattern has emerged, with financially strong businesses expanding their reach, broadening their expertise and investing in growth. NorDan’s latest move extends its presence into the architectural glazing, curtain walling and façade systems markets, while also strengthening its capabilities in design, compliance and project delivery. At a time when quality, collaboration and reliable delivery are increasingly critical across the wider construction sector, the acquisition looks a shrewd one. It not only reinforces NorDan’s position in key strategic areas, but also opens the door to further opportunities in adjacent segments of the markets in which it operates.
