NEWS: Italian tech giant buys Stürtz Group to create global facade powerhouse

The Italian multinational Voilàp Group has acquired the German Stürtz Group, a move positioned to solidify Voilàp’s global market leadership in high-end machinery for manufacturing windows and facades. The transaction is a strategic push to seize control of the rapidly accelerating industrial digitalisation trend.

Stürtz Group, based in Neustadt, Germany, is a major player in automated PVC processing machines, boasting revenues of approximately €65 million and employing over 350 people. The acquisition provides a vital complement to Voilàp’s existing business, which already holds a strong global foothold in aluminum processing through its brands Elumatec, Emmegi, and Tekna, as well as in glass processing with Keraglass and Mappi. By incorporating Stürtz’s PVC expertise, the combined entity now controls an impressive end-to-end machinery portfolio.

The integration of the German company is central to Voilàp’s vision of ‘factories of the future,’ moving beyond mere hardware to offer “an increasingly broad system of intelligent and interconnected machines”. Valter Caiumi, Chairman and CEO of Voilàp Group, stated the company is acquiring “unparalleled expertise in automated processes,” which will allow for enhanced big data management and predictive analytics to optimise performance for clients.

The Stürtz Group will continue to operate as an independent brand, a move designed to safeguard the valuable know-how of its workforce. Crucially, all of the German firm’s more than 350 jobs, including those in its international subsidiaries across the US, UK, Canada, and Poland, are set to be maintained. The transaction was supported by financing from Intesa San Paolo and Banco BPM, underscoring the confidence in the new entity’s role in developing a wider “Intelligent Ecosystem” that also spans Smart Retail and Smart Buildings.

Why This Matters: In the first instance this saves one of the fenestration sector’s longest serving suppliers of PVC-U processing machinery manufacturers. On the broader scale it strengthens one of the most forward thinking groups of companies that operate in the fenestration sector. Innovation related to production machinery is key to the longevity of a sector that needs to continue to improve efficiencies. Machinery is at the heart of this and the vision of the Voilàp Group is at the cutting edge of innovation in this space.
