Teqnion has acquired Manchester-based manufacturer Unique Door Panels, adding a business with average annual revenue of nearly £3.8 million to its diversified group of independently operated companies.
The agreement covers all outstanding shares in Unique Door Panels and takes effect immediately. Managing director Andy Jones will remain in charge of the business, which supplies composite doors, solid doors and PVC-U door infill panels to customers across the northwest of England.
Based in Radcliffe, the company operates from a 7,500 sq ft production facility, combining in-house manufacturing with a personal, made-to-order service. It employs more than 20 people and has over 100 active and repeat customers, with some relationships stretching back more than two decades.
Unique Door Panels was founded in 2004, initially producing PVC-U door panels as part of Windowplas. It subsequently incorporated as a separate company and expanded into large-scale composite door manufacturing.
According to the acquisition announcement, the business has generated average annual revenue of close to £3.8 million over the past three years, with robust margins. It has developed a reputation for quality and reliability within the double glazing sector.
Jones said finding a suitable owner for both the company and its workforce had been central to his decision.
“Finding the right home for the business and the people who built it mattered more to me than anything else, and in Teqnion we have found it,” he said.
“Daniel and I see things the same way, and I am looking forward to taking the company further with the Teqnion team behind us. It is a new chapter for us, and I have every confidence it will be a good one.”
Teqnion’s business model centres on acquiring companies in selected market niches. Its subsidiaries operate independently, retaining an entrepreneurial approach while receiving support through the group’s knowledge, contacts and financial resources.
The group says its acquisition strategy focuses on quality businesses with low risk, favourable prospects and sustainable product portfolios, with continued profitability guiding their development.
Daniel Zhang, Teqnion’s CXO, highlighted the manufacturer’s customer loyalty and established operating relationships as reasons for the acquisition.
“Andy and his team make properly good doors, and they do it with the kind of personal service customers stay loyal to for twenty years and counting,” he said.
“Skilled people, solid supplier relationships, repeat business and stable profitability: Unique Door Panels is a fantastic addition to Teqnion. We expect to together open plenty of new doors.”
Unique Door Panels will become part of Teqnion Väst. Teqnion said the acquisition was not expected to have any significant effect on its financial results for the 2026 fiscal year.
The purchase brings the Radcliffe manufacturer into the group while retaining the managing director who will continue to run its operations.
Why This Matters: Why would a Swedish industrial group want a door maker in the north-west of England? Teqnion’s purchase of Unique Door Panels is less about doors than about succession. Many of Britain’s window and door firms are family-owned, profitable and looking for a buyer that will keep the name and the staff. Teqnion offers exactly that. Expect more: European groups are increasingly treating Britain’s fragmented home-improvement trade as a hunting ground for well-run, keenly priced businesses.
