Innovations: Initiative for sustainability will lead the focus for the NSG Group at Glasstec exhibition

Glasstec, the premier trade fair for the glass industry, will take place in Düsseldorf from Tuesday, October 22 to Friday, October 25, 2024. Among the many exhibitors, the NSG Group, renowned for its Pilkington brand, is set to showcase its latest advancements in Hall 10, Stand G20. A highlight of NSG’s presentation will be its makechange™ initiative, a comprehensive effort focused on sustainability. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. By adopting a science-based approach, NSG Group has already made significant strides, including reducing waste to landfill by over 50% and committing to a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.

One of the standout products on display will be the Pilkington Pyrostop® Line 60-603. This monolithic fire-resistant safety glass is designed for frameless butt joint systems in internal applications. With a fire resistance classification of EI 60 and a slim, flush design, it offers both safety and aesthetic appeal. The product’s seamless design, enabled by an almost invisible butt joint, ensures an unrestricted and crystal-clear view, making it a versatile choice for modern architecture.

Additionally, Pilkington’s fire-resistant glass products, including Pilkington Pyrostop® and Pilkington Pyrodur®, come with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) certified according to ISO 14025 and EN 15804. These certifications highlight the sustainability of the products, which have a proven track record of performance spanning nearly four decades.

Why it matters:  This story is pivotal for the glazing industry as it highlights NSG Group’s leadership in integrating sustainability into product innovation, a crucial factor as the industry moves towards greener practices. The introduction of advanced fire-resistant glass like Pilkington Pyrostop® reflects the industry’s focus on safety without compromising design. Lastly, the EPD certifications reinforce the importance of transparency and sustainability in product development, setting new standards for the industry.
