Ingenious launches door restrictor for safer controlled door operation +VOX

Ingenious Locks & Hardware, a supplier of multi-point locks and fenestration hardware, has announced the release of a new Door Restrictor aimed at improving door safety and day-to-day usability across the UK market. Backed by a worldwide supply chain, the company says the product aligns with its aim to offer a broad and adaptable range of multi-point locking solutions for residential and commercial doors.

The Door Restrictor is designed to address common issues associated with uncontrolled door movement, including excessive opening and slamming. According to the company, the product provides a straightforward mechanical solution that allows doors to be limited to a preset opening position or a maximum of 90 degrees. This approach is intended to reduce the risk of damage to doors, frames, and surrounding fixtures while offering greater control for users.

Installation has been positioned as a key consideration in the product’s design. The restrictor fits directly into the eurogroove and is secured with a simple bracket to the door frame, allowing it to be incorporated without complex modification. Ingenious says this makes the product suitable for both new installations and retrofit projects.

Another feature of considered interest is friction control. The slider includes adjustable friction screws that enable the door to remain open in light wind conditions. This allows for ventilation without the door moving freely, a practical benefit for both domestic and light commercial settings.

Compatibility has also been a focus. The Door Restrictor is suitable for all major PVC-U profiles, broadening its application across a wide range of door systems commonly used in the UK. By concentrating on standard profiles, the company aims to simplify specification and reduce uncertainty for installers and fabricators.

With this launch, Ingenious Locks & Hardware continues to expand its hardware offering while maintaining a focus on functional design and practical installation. Further information about the Door Restrictor, including ordering details, is available by contacting the company directly at enquiries@ilhltd.co.uk or via direct message.

Why This Matters: This launch is important for the UK market because it gives fabricators and installers a practical, profile-compatible solution to improve door control and safety, without complicating fabrication or installation, while meeting growing expectations around usability and damage prevention. It also is evidence that the sector is comfortable to invest in new innovation and products when the market is acknowledged as being challenging. The key to growth is to keep investing and finding solutions to problems which add to the appeal of products.
