Velux is expanding its flat roof window range with a new glass rooflight aimed at customers seeking a higher-end appearance without moving into the premium segment.
The roof window manufacturer has launched the Velux Standard Glass Rooflight, combining the base element from an earlier generation of its flat roof windows with a flat glass top element in an aluminium design.
Velux said the product was intended to bring a high-quality finish to flat roof projects at a mid-range price point.
The Standard Glass Rooflight is available in fixed and openable versions. According to the manufacturer, the openable model includes a rain sensor as standard, as well as a motor integrated into the frame.
Its flat glass top element is designed for roofs with pitches of between 2° and 15°.
The product is based on Velux’s existing double-glazed window generation and comes in eight sizes, ranging from 60cm by 60cm to 120cm by 120cm.
Velux said the double glazing gives the rooflight a thermal insulation value of 0.80 W/(m²K).
Customers purchasing a Velux solar or electric flat roof window will also receive the company’s App Control accessory free of charge, according to the manufacturer. The system allows the window to be operated from a smartphone and can also enable voice control.
The launch broadens Velux’s existing flat roof portfolio, which covers products designed for different levels of performance and project requirements.
Its premium range includes curved and flat glass roof windows, which the company says are designed to provide strong thermal performance while maximising daylight.
Velux also offers flat roof windows fitted with glass or polycarbonate domes, which are intended to combine insulation with generous daylight areas. Its wider range includes dome rooflights designed for projects with more basic requirements for natural light and energy efficiency.
Alongside products primarily intended to bring daylight into buildings, Velux offers specialist flat roof solutions for escape and smoke ventilation.
Since September 2025, the company’s CXU flat roof window has combined both escape and smoke ventilation functions within a single unit.
Velux describes the CXU as an all-in-one option for applications where those safety functions are required.
The latest Standard Glass Rooflight adds another choice between the company’s premium flat glass products and more functional rooflight options, with Velux positioning it as a design-led solution for customers working outside the top end of the market.
